Rodyk's Practice Training Scheme

Our programme gives our practice trainees maximum exposure to the practice disciplines of a large law firm.

Practice trainees are rotated through the firm’s various practice groups and receive training in different practice areas. We consider such training to be the cornerstone of a successful legal career and this has been our practice even prior to the Board of Legal Education's new requirements that trainees be exposed to 2 or more areas of practice.

Practice trainees will be exposed to the following areas of practice:

1. Civil Litigation
2. Corporate Practice
3. Conveyancing Practice

With our diverse range of practices and regional work, Rodyk's practice trainees are exposed to interesting and varied transactions and clients.

Practice trainees will be assigned to supervising solicitors who are partners in the practice trainee's department of choice. Practice trainees will learn various aspects of legal work in the practice groups that they are rotated to. They will receive training in client care and file management and their research skills developed as undergraduates will be further enhanced. They will receive training on drafting of documents, participate in hearings and negotiations in order to develop advocacy and negotiation skills and they will be nurtured to improve their communication and interpersonal skills.

Practice Trainee Allowance

Our practice trainee allowance is S$2,000 per month. These amounts are reviewed and adjusted periodically.

Upon completion of their training contract with us we reimburse our practice trainees for the Practice Law Course fees and court filing fees for admission papers.

We will accept applications in Jan/Feb 2011 for Practice Training commencing in 2014. The Practice Training will commence upon successful completion by the applicant of Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations in December 2013. Successful applicants from overseas universities who satisfy the requirements under the Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) Rules will be required to undergo a 6 month legal training stint with us commencing in January 2013 before attending Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations and Practice Training thereafter.
