Josephine Koh is a partner in Rodyk & Davidson LLP and heads the firm's China Practice.

Josephine has worked and resided in Shanghai, China, since early 1996 after she finished her reading of a semester of Chinese laws at the prestigious Fudan University in Shanghai in 1995. She was in house counsel from 1996 to 1998 with the Kuok-Kerry Group. In 1998, Josephine became resident partner of the Shanghai branch of HelenYeo & Partners, the first Singapore law firm to receive a law licence for Shanghai. When the firm merged with Rodyk in 2002, Josephine continued as Rodyk's resident partner in Shanghai.

Over the past 15 years as resident partner in our China office, Josephine has acquired invaluable insight and understanding of the development and practice of Chinese laws in China. As a Singapore qualified lawyer with common law training, she serves as an important conduit for many Singaporean and other multinational investments into China. She has advised on numerous investments, acquisitions, divestments and restructurings in various Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Dalian, Qingdao, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Shanxi, Wuxi, Nanjing, Hainan, Shenyang, Tianjin, Chengdu, Zhengzhou, Xian, Guangzhou and Harbin.

Josephine's practice areas include corporate transactional work involving mergers and acquisitions, cross border joint ventures and many other foreign direct investment projects in China. She is an invaluable resource to foreign companies seeking to operate and operating in China. Her transaction list includes infrastructure projects such as water treatment projects in Panshi and Hangzhou, numerous real estate projects with residential, office and hotel developments for major developers from Singapore and Hong Kong, and many other projects in the manufacturing, hospitality, technology and other service industries.

Josephine provides corporate advisory services on the restructuring and reorganisation of Chinese companies and foreign invested enterprises in China as well as other related corporate work.

She has advised numerous clients in various areas and industries including the medical, infrastructure, real estate and hospitality industries. Josephine has also performed advisory and transactional work involving banking and financial instruments for major Singapore banks in China.

Josephine is the honorary legal advisor for the Singapore Shanghai Business Association. She participates actively as speaker in the seminars and conferences organised by various legal seminar organisers as well as the Chinese trade industries and committees.
