Loh Kia Meng is a partner in Rodyk & Davidson LLP's Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group.
Kia Meng graduated from the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore in 2002 and was admitted to the Singapore Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2003.
Kia Meng's main areas of practice are in civil and commercial litigation and arbitration, involving construction, insurance, banking, insolvency, employment, real estate, and director and shareholder disputes.
Kia Meng advises major banks on banking and insolvency issues, as well as recovery work, involving facilities secured by land, guarantees and other collaterals, and on the enforcement of foreign judgments in Singapore obtained by foreign banks.
In his construction practice, Kia Meng acted for both developers and contractors in construction and payment disputes, as well as subsidiary proprietors in defect and renovation disputes. He advised and acted in landlord and tenant cases and his clients include property and management companies dealing with commercial and retail properties and a major local coffee shop franchise.
Kia Meng represented for various commercial entities involving contractual disputes as well as claims against former directors for breach of fiduciary duties and employees for breach of employment agreements. His clients include MNCs, local listed companies, SMEs and an international budget airline.
Kia Meng represents major insurance companies, and advises them in various matters including all risk public liability policies, and workmen compensation and personal injury claims. He has handled criminal law cases, and has acted for various clients in the defence of charges under the Penal Code, Computer Misuse Act, Misuse of Drugs Act, Road Traffic Act, Immigration Act, Employment of Foreign Workers Act, and other statutory provisions.
Kia Meng's strength lies in his experience in assisting his clients in resolving disputes through various forms of dispute resolution, whether it is litigation in the Singapore courts, mediation, negotiation or arbitration under the Rules of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre or the International Chamber of Commerce.
