Successfully obtained a decision for Singapore Tourism Board ("STB") to be repaid by a British concert organiser who failed to stage what was supposed to be Singapore's largest ever entertainment event in 2005. Judgement was successfully obtained against the organiser personally by piercing the corporate veil in an unique decision where the Court of Appeal held that the organiser had to bear personal liability notwithstanding the establishment of contractual entities set up to handle the event at the outset.
Successfully argued for the minority shareholders in this Court of Appeal decision on minority oppression under section 216 of the Companies Act. Reported at Civil Appeal No. 88 of 2005 - Lim Swee Khiang and Another v Borden Co (Pte) Ltd and Others (Court of Appeal), as lead counsel before Andrew Ang J, Andrew Phang Boon Leong JA and Chan Sek Keong CJ. [2006] 4 SLR 745.
Successfully acted for client in this Court of Appeal decision on the duties and liabilities of a bailee in delivering goods. Reported at Civil Appeal No. 58 of 2006 - Sun Technosystems Pte Ltd v Federal Express Services (M) Sdn Bhd (Court of Appeal), as lead counsel before Andrew Phang Boon Leong JA, Chan Sek Keong CJ and Lee Seiu Kin J. [2007] 1 SLR 411.
Successfully argued for Projector SA in this important decision by the Court of Appeal on the principles to be applied by the court in deciding whether to grant leave to amend notice of appeal. Reported at Civil Appeal No. 42 of 2004 - Projector SA v Marubeni International Petroleum (S) Pte Ltd (No. 2) (Court of Appeal) as lead counsel before Chao Hick Tin JA and Judith Prakash J. [2005] 2 SLR 1.
Successfully argued for Singapore Airlines against an application by the Civil Aeronautics Administration (Republic of China) for immunity under the State Immunity Act in relation to the SQ006 crash. Reported at Civil Appeal No. 92 of 2003 - Civil Aeronautics Administration v Singapore Airlines Ltd as Lead Counsel, Court of Appeal before Chao Hick Tin JA, and Woo Bih Li J. [2004] 1 SLR 570.
